The Curtains Have Closed on Momentum 2011

We are so thankful to God for the success of Momentum! He blew us all away.

Night one of Momentum there was an estimated 150, including volunteers, Attendees at Momentum! Fusion led worship and a great message was given by Coy Hollinshead. Monica Leftwich, director of Crossroads Pregnancy Center, gave information on the center. A few of the Momentum volunteers performed a cheesy, but entertaining little skit. The second night was a smaller crowd. It was discouraging at first. However, we had to remember that we said from the beginning that if one life was touched, it was worth every moment spent planning. The BCM band What Held You There lead worship the second night. Hope House, a local Christian Rehab Center presented information on there services, along with a time of Q and A. The message was again given by Coy Hollinshead, and Adam Agee gave the testimony of his struggle with addiction.

Our prayer is that the message of  abstinence was received, but more importantly that the message of the Gospel was received. I believe that God was glorified, which along with the Gospel being preached and abstinence being taught, that was our goal. The best indicator we have that God moved during Momentum was the way He ironed out every detail that we struggled to make work. We just knew we would run out of t-shirts in the planning process when we couldn't afford to buy many (we had some left over, but not in an abundance)> We had scares of people involved in the program not being able to make it (everyone was there and accounted for)> We fretted over things such as food running low the first night to an overwhelming amount of left-overs the second night. (Of course, both nights everyone was fed).> Our pride was a little hurt when Fox 24 news showed up the night we had small numbers (It didn't take long for us to shoot down that nonsense).

Honestly, our pride could have cost us a lot. We could have missed what God was doing in each situation we faced as we planned for Momentum and as we "watched" Momentum take place. Looking back, we can see how God orchestrated every detail for Momentum, many times despite our efforts. It took us knowing from the start that Momentum was not "our" ministry.  I, personally, am so grateful that God uses the weak things of this world.

We are planning to make Momentum an annual event!

Praises:

1) I am stunned to say that our t-shirts have been paid in full. We will not pay a penny for our shirts.

2) Momentum raised $1006.91!!! We will be donating a "to be determined" percentage to Crossroads Pregnancy Center for a new ultrasound machine. The remaining amount will be used to make Momentum 2012 happen :)

"For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified, I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching was not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirits power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power." 1 Cor 1:27

  1. Perfect scripture choice through your blogging Jen! I cant help but to remember the story of Jesus feeding the thousands of people with only 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread...He did that again for us :) Who ever said that He only performs a miracle once?? I will admit to a little bit of panic before the event started, I dont know why I let myself doubt Christ's ability to calm the storm. Me of little faith..but God set me straight again! Our representative from Hope House was a no-show so when I called to "politely remind" somebody that they were expected, the receptionist Mrs Kanesha Shead stepped up to the plate and delivered a great information session and answered a lot of questions for us. I dont why Im so hard-headed that I need to be reminded that God has it all in control...NOT me! I am so grateful for all of the prayers, volunteers, donations etc that you all contributed! "eternally" grateful...I know our Father is too!!
