The Curtains Have Closed on Momentum 2011

We are so thankful to God for the success of Momentum! He blew us all away.

Night one of Momentum there was an estimated 150, including volunteers, Attendees at Momentum! Fusion led worship and a great message was given by Coy Hollinshead. Monica Leftwich, director of Crossroads Pregnancy Center, gave information on the center. A few of the Momentum volunteers performed a cheesy, but entertaining little skit. The second night was a smaller crowd. It was discouraging at first. However, we had to remember that we said from the beginning that if one life was touched, it was worth every moment spent planning. The BCM band What Held You There lead worship the second night. Hope House, a local Christian Rehab Center presented information on there services, along with a time of Q and A. The message was again given by Coy Hollinshead, and Adam Agee gave the testimony of his struggle with addiction.

Our prayer is that the message of  abstinence was received, but more importantly that the message of the Gospel was received. I believe that God was glorified, which along with the Gospel being preached and abstinence being taught, that was our goal. The best indicator we have that God moved during Momentum was the way He ironed out every detail that we struggled to make work. We just knew we would run out of t-shirts in the planning process when we couldn't afford to buy many (we had some left over, but not in an abundance)> We had scares of people involved in the program not being able to make it (everyone was there and accounted for)> We fretted over things such as food running low the first night to an overwhelming amount of left-overs the second night. (Of course, both nights everyone was fed).> Our pride was a little hurt when Fox 24 news showed up the night we had small numbers (It didn't take long for us to shoot down that nonsense).

Honestly, our pride could have cost us a lot. We could have missed what God was doing in each situation we faced as we planned for Momentum and as we "watched" Momentum take place. Looking back, we can see how God orchestrated every detail for Momentum, many times despite our efforts. It took us knowing from the start that Momentum was not "our" ministry.  I, personally, am so grateful that God uses the weak things of this world.

We are planning to make Momentum an annual event!

Praises:

1) I am stunned to say that our t-shirts have been paid in full. We will not pay a penny for our shirts.

2) Momentum raised $1006.91!!! We will be donating a "to be determined" percentage to Crossroads Pregnancy Center for a new ultrasound machine. The remaining amount will be used to make Momentum 2012 happen :)

"For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified, I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching was not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirits power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power." 1 Cor 1:27

Momentum Eve

Well, we've had "Momeetings", "Momeltdowns", "Momissions", and we've been on the "Mo Mo Mo". (Joke among the Momentum Leaders that began with a slip up where a Momentum meeting became a "Momeeting". The rest is history.)

Today is Momentum Eve. It has finally arrived. We are ready, excited, and ummm, exhausted. :)

Thanks to everyone who has prayed!! We love you, and we're not done with you yet!

Prayer Request:

-Our Volunteers.

We are so grateful for our volunteers. They will be helping to keep us from having "momeltdowns" tomorrow and Monday. We would also like to mention that these precious people will be praying with the youth during the invitation each evening. As you know, that's an important job. We ask that you pray for these guys, and for us as well, as we take on this responsibility.

We are super pumped!!!

Thanks to everyone!!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Prayers for the Last Week: 3

Tonight:

-Pray for Momentum Leadership. That we finish our planning strong.

-Pray for our spiritual lives. That we would not neglect time with God this week. Also, that we would be aware of spiritual attacks. Satan is not happy about Momentum and I'm sure He will let us know this week.

-Pray for our sanity as we put the finishing touches on this event.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Eph 6:9

Prayers for the Last Week: 2

Tonight:

Pray for those who will attend Momentum. We desire that every lost soul would be saved, and that each young person would choose abstinence.

Pray that God would begin to work on their hearts before they enter the building.

Pray that God's word would convict their hearts, resulting in changed lives.

"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

Prayers for the Last Week: 1

1) Tonight I ask that you pray for Coy Hollingshead. Coy is our speaker for both nights.
--Pray that he will be diligent in preparing
--Pray that his heart will be open to what God
                 has for Momentum

Of course, these are just a couple of suggestions....We are so excited that Coy has joined our team; and we look forward to what God is going to do through him!

Let the Count Down Begin!

Today is officially one week until Momentum.

Ahhh just writing that makes me excited.

Momentum was just a dream this past May. Now, eight months later we are about to see the fruit of our labor. Honestly, I think all of us would say that apart from God this thing would still be just a far off dream. Every attempt we have made at doing things our way has failed. Seriously, every time. Originally, Momentum was set to be a summer event. *What were we thinking?* Here we are having Momentum in the dead of winter. We had our ideas of speakers, of sponsors, and of fundraisers. Many of our ideas were divinely reshaped or instigated. He has used our strengths and weakness all for His glory. We can genuinely and humbly say God has planned Momentum from the beginning. It has been our honor to be His hands and feet in this event.

Guys, we still NEED you.

Volunteers...Volunteers...Volunteers!!!

We need people to make this happen. Please, if you think you can be a help to us the 23rd, 24th or both, let us know!!

Prayer. Please, lift us, this event, and its attendees up in prayer this week.

My goal this week is to blog a specific prayer request every day. So, stay tuned!

~Photo Shoot Results~

The amount raised for Jan 8th photo shoot was....Drum Roll Please.....$200!!

Thank you to everyone who came out in the freezing cold weather and supported us!

We are only a week and a half away from Momentum!! Eek!

Continue praying guys! We want to see lives changed.

Please pray for the hearts of those who will be in attendance> First, for lives to be committed to Christ. Second, for lives to be committed to abstinence. Pray that we would use wisdom in making the minor decisions left to be made. Pray for peace vs stress

We are so thankful to God for this amazing opportunity to be a part of and to have a front row view of what God is going to do the 23rd and 24th.

May He be glorified!
